THE REAL MEANING OF CHRISTMAS

We all love Santa Claus but lets not forget the real meaning of Christmas. Sometimes, we get caught up in all the fun stuff and don't give a second thought as to why we are celebrating Christmas.

The reason being that God sent His only son, to pay the price for our sins and he set this up in a way that we would understand.

He sent not a grown man but a baby, whose birth was so spectacular. We have wise men, coming from afar. They had seen the star in their distant land and they knew that the prophet Micah had foretold that it would happen in Bethlehem. That is why we often have a star on top of the Christmas tree. The wise men came bringing the gifts of frankincense, gold and myrrh. Hence our gift giving.

What about the shepherds? They understood that every member of the flock is important, especially the lambs. They were just ordinary men guarding their flocks, when suddenly an angel appeared among them. They were afraid but the angel reassured them and then a vast host of other angels arrived all praising God. Can you imagine, how important they would have felt.

So as you can see, it doesn't matter whether you are rich, poor or somewhere in between, we are all important to God. He doesn't care, whether we are the poorest or the richest, He just wants to give us His blessings.

God wanted us to see, that we are so important to Him, even the smallest of us, a new born babe. His miracle of so long ago, still has far reaching effects today. How special is that!
